Factile - Jeopardy style formative assessment tool
Keeping students focused and motivated is a constant challenge for teachers, especially in remote-learning situations to engage the whole class at once. An effective way to address this issue is to turn review sessions into games: the informal context allows students to relax and the friendly competition keeps them motivated. The web-based application, Factile allows you to turn your classroom into the set of Jeopardy and make your review sessions efficient and entertaining. The Jeopardy look of the board will appeal to kids who enjoy the competitive environment for assessment.
Factile is mainly useful as a means of formative assessment or review of basic concepts that fit into a flashcard or quiz format. There are premade games to browse, so search for your topic and see if one already exists that will fit your needs. You can also expand the quizzes beyond content review by using it for relationship building with students (using trivia about classmates, for example) or for reinforcing classroom procedures after a break. As part of the review, have small groups of students take a category and create the Jeopardy game. Have students create a Jeopardy quiz for their classmates to take after they give a presentation since creating the quiz is a great way to reinforce content.
The website that allows you to create a Jeopardy-type game board with categories and wagers, using your own questions and answers. The free version lets you create text-only quizzes; doesn't include video, sounds, equations, or images, nor does it allow teams to "buzz in" from their own devices. It does allow teachers to create three games for free for up to five teams to play and allows access to the library of premade games. The board offers the opportunity for thirty questions. The play has to happen live in one room, and teachers have to keep track of correct responses in order for scoring to work.
It’s relatively simple to create a game and super easy to play.
